In 1968 I got my first German Wirehair Pointer, Sam. He was very special and I learned a lot from him. I went through a long learning process with several other German Wirehair Pointers with some good and some bad experiences.

In 1986 I had the time to get back into hunting with dogs. I knew a little more about what I wanted in a quality German Wirehair Pointer. As time went on what was a good dog for short hunts and a house dog / companion turned out not to be the best when we started traveling out west to Iowa, South and North Dakota and Montana. Hunting the Yellow Stone River, which flows 7 or more miles per hour, in December with two degree air temperature will start to tell you what your dogs are made of. Hunting pheasant in 12 to 18 inches of water with ice the thickness of glass will tell you once again what your dogs are made of. Some could do it, some couldn't. Those that could and had the desire to still be your buddy were the ones we kept.

We have a breeding program that is very select as we try to keep close working, eager to hunt and eager to please dogs in our kennel. To see more of our dogs in actions go to our Field Shots page.
